3D prosthetics

3D prosthetic devices – CEREC and Trios

We have once again taken an important step forward in developing our services in order to provide patients with an even more modern, precise and faster dental treatment service. Our dental clinic now uses the complete Sirona Cerec CAD/CAM 3D prosthetics system (CAD/CAM – computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing), which enables us to make high-quality all-ceramic restorations immediately in the dentist’s office. This includes dental crowns, inlays/onlays and laminates.

Sirona Cerec is a new generation of dental equipment that is changing the world. Why do we have faith in it? The Cerec technology can improve the lives of our patients by reducing the time needed for treatments, the number of visits to the dentist, and ultimately the cost. We are inspired by this knowledge and driven to make even better efforts.

Prosthetic work using CAD/CAM is performed in our clinic by:

Dr. Kaja Kiigemore information about the doctor can be found here.

Dr. Laura Schmidt more information about the doctor can be found here.

At the moment, appointments for both doctors can be booked using our contact phone number – 5335 99 66.

How does the 3D prosthetics process work?

After the tooth to be restored is successfully treated and prepared, the dentist photographs the tooth in the mouth with a special 3D camera.

Based on the 3D image, a virtual 3D model of teeth is created in the Cerec device, which the dentist uses to design, with the help of special software, the tooth or part of it to be restored (crown, laminate, inlay/onlay etc.)

The tooth to be restored is milled on site using an automatic and high-precision milling machine. We use high-quality and durable mineral ceramic blocks supplied by well-known manufacturers to make restorations.

After the restoration is completed, the dentist places it in the patient’s mouth, thereby restoring the tooth to the desired shape.

Provided that the previous treatments have been completed, it is possible to restore the tooth in about two hours, in one visit, with the help of the Cerec technology.

What is the cost of a tooth restored using 3D prosthetic equipment?

The price is the same as it would be for the regular silicon impression-based tooth restoration work. Thus, the price is not higher, but the process of completing the work is significantly faster.

What are the properties and lifespan of a tooth restored using CAD/CAM?

The lifespan of a restored tooth depends on many factors: individual oral hygiene, the state and maintenance of the rest of the teeth, and so on. Regular inspection and check-ups of the restored teeth by a dentist (preferably every 6 months) are also very important. It does not affect the properties of the tooth whether the restored tooth is made on-site in a clinic or in a laboratory. This means that a tooth restored using CAD/CAM equipment has at least the same lifespan as a tooth restored in a dental laboratory.
